During a carousing banquet hosted by King Belshazzar, fingers suddenly appeared, writing Aramaic words on the wall. The king was so disturbed by this, his face turned pale and his knees knocked together! A frantic search was made for someone who could interpret this unusual message. Finally, Daniel was brought forward, explaining that the Babylonian kingdom would be conquered by the Medes and Persians. The account closes with the words: "That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain, and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom." (Dan. 5:1-30)
